d revenue from mobile app-install ad format is predicted to reach $4.6 this year and is set to reach $6.8 billion by the end of 2019, according to a new Business Insider report.
The report estimates that the mobile app-install ad format accounted for approximately 30 percent of the U.S. mobile ad revenue last year.
Mobile app-install ads are becoming indispensable for app developers to stand out from the crowded app stores. While the ad format is popular amongst game-app developers, other types of companies such as e-commerce and brands, are also using the mobile ad format to market their apps.
In addition to driving app downloads, the mobile ad format also offers an easy to measure return on investment, especially when compared with other mobile ad formats. Business Insider argues “once an app-install ad generates a download, everything a customer does in the app, such as “lifetime customer value,” can be attributed back to that specific ad.”
The cost of mobile app-install ad formats–though significantly higher than standard ad units– will hold steady. This is because supply and demand are forecasted to rise alongside each other.
Mobile publishers and ad networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, are competing to get a bigger piece of the pie that is the mobile app-install ad revenue. These companies are doing their best to attract app developers by providing app install ads with advanced ad analytics and developer tools.
